Since 2024, I've narrated a growing catalogue of cinematic documentaries for Your Epic Historian, exploring military history, archaeology and remarkable true stories drawn from 2,000 years of history. When narrating a visual medium such as a documentary, it is important to understand how the role of the narrator differs from when narrating an audiobook, for example, where the performance is solely responsible for conveying the narrative. The goal here is to present information to the audience in a way that supports and enhances the visual, but never overshadows it.

I'M PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED, AND NOT JUST AS A VO

I hold an Associate's Degree from Trinity College London in Drama and Speech, which I passed with distinction by obtaining a final grade of over 90%. As well as my extensive vocal training, I am a classically-trained actor who has appeared on the BBC and in award-winning plays, both nationally and in London's West End. The skills that I have learned have given me the ability to breathe life into a range of characters across genders, ages, and social classes, with accents ranging from East London to the American Deep South.

In addition, I have extensive audio editing and mastering skills, ADR recording experience, and professional experience in video editing, visual effects, and creative writing. Importantly, I have a very high standard of English, which enables me to easily spot errors in the text and also to make constructive, creative suggestions that are aligned with your vision.

HOW IT WORKS

If you think my voice could be a good fit for your project, the first thing that we will do is have a good chat about it! Through my skills and experience, I have built up good instincts on delivering a successful project, but there's just no substitute for a good conversation. We'll discuss the project and your expectations before I record a single word, and if it's a fiction audiobook, I will get to know your characters as well as you do. I will then provide you with a completely free, no-obligation sample of your script, up to 15 minutes in duration.

FAST TURNAROUND
For most projects, you can expect a 24-hour turnaround time. For audiobooks and other long-form content, we'll agree on a realistic delivery schedule that works for both of us.

PROJECT DELIVERY
I can supply your finished project in MP3, WAV, or any other major audio format. If it's an audiobook project for Audible, rest assured that the files will comply fully with the required standards.

COSTS

Every project is different and assessed on an individual basis, however as a ballpark figure my base fee is £75 per hour, with a minimum of two hours and no cap on revisions. Costs can change (and not just up!) based on the nature of the work, project duration, and if there is scope to build a long-term partnership.

I will even consider doing the job for free, for a good cause - some things are more important than money. Drop me a message via the contact section if you think this applies to you.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

Many voice actors offer a limited number of revisions that can be made to a recording, typically one or two. I do not do this. On the rare occasions that I haven't quite produced what my client is looking for the first time out, we will work on it until you are 100% happy, with no limitations. My goal is to provide you with the best voiceover I can and give you a stress-free and enjoyable interaction that leaves you wondering why everything can't be that easy!

I have a fully sound-proofed home studio with professional-grade equipment and software and have taken professional training in audio editing, to ensure that your project sounds as clear and professional as possible.

I use Adobe Audition and iZotope RX for audio recording, editing and mastering, Adobe Premiere for video projects, a 4th Generation Focussrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, and a Rode NT condenser mic, which are all professional-level, industry-standard software packages and gear.
